pigeon fever!

list

1a. packet 3.. well, i think the power of the lazy got me worse this time and i didn't start writing until 4 days before it was due (not good considering i have 21 days). it got in though, and i wrote a lot. not my finest work, maybe. i'm a little disappointed because i am really into the classroom management without coercion stuff (constructivism for moral/ethical knowledge!) but i shortchanged it in the paper. i read so much, and then can't cram it all n.... i'm still learning from it... i guess i'm still thinking about the writing as proving what i know, not actually part of learning... which is not ideal.

1b.i had a tough time writing about the legal processes of special ed... part of the problem being i think the vast majority of the time that kids are "behind" especially young kids who struggle with reading do not have an inherent disability. we just need to widen the range of what is considered normal and stop expecting everyone to learn the same thing at the same time and pathologizing everyone else.

2. stuff i've been reading
a.fuckcorporategroceries.net
b.yoga blogs - addictive. some good, insightful. others are terrible shallow people ... blog endlessly about yoga poses and tv and shopping. ick. like every pose is a badge of honor. want to get far far away from this. remember non-attachment and living in the now (and in the meow).

3. rowie told me they are training pigeons ("as we speak") to watch the baggage scan screen at the airport! they can recognize weapons. rachel raises the point - will it wear a little hat?

4. been on some play dates with young julia lately. when did it become a play date and stop being playing?

5. young julia held up a tortilla chip and said it looked like a penguin. it did have a curve like a penguin's back.... then later she held up a very rectangular one and said it looked like a pigeon. ... awww.

6. looking verymuch forward to halloween.

7. note on last post. the gult thing i wrote about was from a blog, not my real life. memory is funny that way
